Assemblyman Bocanegra Seeks Nominations for Woman of the Year
(Sacramento, CA) – Assemblymember Raul Bocanegra (D-Pacoima) invites the community to submit nominations for California’s 2017 Woman of the Year awards. March is Women’s History Month in California, and each year, the State Legislature holds an awards ceremony in Sacramento to honor women who exemplify courage, strength and vision in their daily lives.
“It is important to recognize and honor women of the 39th Assembly District for all of their contributions to the community,” said Assemblymember Bocanegra. “This is a special opportunity to thank them for the hard work they do and for the positive impacts that they have in our schools, our neighborhoods, our cities and beyond.”
Nominees should demonstrate their dedication to the community through their work or volunteer efforts.
Nominations should include the following:
- A short (200-word) biography
- A specific list of accomplishments, such as membership in organizations, past and present community service work, or any awards or special recognitions;
- Contact information (home address, phone number and email address); and
- Nominator’s contact information.

Raul Bocanegra is the Democratic Majority Whip in the California State Assembly. He represents the 39th Assembly District, which includes the Los Angeles communities of Arleta, Granada Hills, Lakeview Terrace, Mission Hills, North Hollywood, Pacoima, Shadow Hills, Sun Valley, Sunland-Tujunga, Sylmar and the City of San Fernando.
