(Sacramento) – Assemblymember Raul Bocanegra’s legislation to give local government more tools to combat illegal dumping has cleared the State Assembly. Assembly Bill 332 amends current law to allow local governments to temporarily close a street or alley where persistent illegal dumping has been proven to occur. “In many cases, and in particular in the San Fernando Valley, this illegal dumping happens next to or near landfills or waste disposal facilities,” said Assemblymember Bocanegra. “The dumped property is not only an eye sore, but it is also a public safety hazard.” Here’s more in this Assembly Access video.
