Capitol Update
Swearing-In Ceremony
In December, I was sworn into office for the new legislative year, marking a significant milestone for my community, District 39, and I. I was able to share this moment with my family with great pride and joy. My office and I are excited to continue the work we’ve started with even more commitment to serving our community.
CNCA 2024 Legislator of the Year Award
In January, the California Nevada Cement Association (CNCA) honored me with the 2024 Legislator of the Year Award for my unwavering dedication to Assembly Bill 2109. This critical piece of legislation supports the cement industry's efforts to decarbonize, which is a major step toward a more sustainable future for California. This award serves as a testament to my commitment to both environmental sustainability and supporting local industries.
A special congratulations goes out to our Capitol team as well, whose hard work and collaboration made this achievement possible. We’re all proud of this recognition, and it highlights the dedication of everyone involved in advancing important legislative efforts.
We look forward to continuing our work on behalf of the community.

MLK Day of Service – Thank You from Assemblymember Carrillo & Team!
On MLK Day of Service, my district team and I hosted a Backpack Drive to support families affected by recent wildfires. With the generosity of our community, we collected and distributed backpacks filled with essential supplies and non-perishable snacks to those in need.
We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, and helped make this event a success. Your support and dedication embody the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy of service, and we are grateful to be part of a community that comes together in times of need.
Our team remains committed to serving District 39, and we look forward to hosting more events to support our neighbors. Stay tuned for upcoming opportunities to get involved!
Adelanto Homeless Count – Working Together for a Better Future
On January 23, our team joined local partners to take part in San Bernardino County’s Annual Homeless Count, a crucial effort to document and support our most vulnerable residents. Our Field Deputy, Mr. Jaelen Spencer, worked alongside Family Assistance Program volunteers and Adelanto staff, including Brenda Lopez, Virginia Velis, and Jerry Sanders, to survey and provide resources to the homeless community in Adelanto.

This important effort was made possible with the support of San Bernardino County’s Office of Homeless Services’ Lynne Abiva, as well as the Starbucks morning crew, who provided coffee and a meeting space for volunteers. A special thank you to Jerry Sanders, who not only organized survey materials but also generously donated winter jackets for homeless teens.
The Annual Homeless Count helps San Bernardino County secure federal and state funding to address homelessness by providing accurate data on those living on the streets, in cars, or in makeshift desert shelters. Many individuals consented to answering the county’s homeless survey, sharing how long they have been without housing and if they required emergency medical care.
The City of Adelanto is part of the Desert Region Homeless Committee, which includes representatives from Apple Valley, Barstow, Hesperia, and Victorville’s Wellness Center, all working together to tackle homelessness in the High Desert.
The county-wide data on homelessness will be published in March or April 2025. To learn more about these efforts, visit San Bernardino County Homeless Partnership.
