VICTORVILLE, CA — Assemblymember Juan Carrillo released the following statement in response to ICE activities in the Victor Valley region:
“I strongly oppose the recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids targeting immigrant communities in the Victor Valley region.
These actions are not only disruptive and harmful, they are inhumane. They tear families apart, sow fear among our neighbors, and undermine the trust between communities and the institutions meant to serve them.
I believe it’s crucial to uphold due process, dignity, and human rights in immigration enforcement. These raids disproportionately affect Latino communities, many of whom have lived, worked, and contributed to this country for years, often decades.
These are our families, friends, and coworkers. They deserve protection, not persecution.
I call on federal authorities to immediately halt these operations and urge the adoption of a humane, just, and comprehensive approach to immigration policy. I also call on state and local leaders to reaffirm their commitment to protecting immigrant communities by ensuring access to legal support, resisting cooperation with unjust enforcement actions, and providing resources to those affected.
To our communities: You are not alone. I am here. As Californians, we will continue to fight for your rights, your safety, and your dignity.
Our office is in contact with local immigration advocacy organizations and continues to monitor the situation closely.”
